Call for Artifact Evaluation

MLCAD is pleased to continue its Artifact Evaluation (AE) initiative to foster reproducibility, transparency, and integrity in research on machine learning for electronic design automation (EDA). First introduced in 2024, the AE process supports open, reliable, and verifiable research practices and aligns with IEEE-approved AE policies and badging standards.

Authors of accepted MLCAD 2025 papers are invited to optionally submit supporting artifacts—such as code, datasets, models, and experimental workflows—for evaluation. Successfully reviewed artifacts will receive official IEEE AE badges, which will be displayed on the final published versions of the papers. Additionally, MLCAD will present top-3 Best Artifact Awards, which will be awarded to authors whose artifacts earn both primary AE badges (“Code Reviewed” and “Code Reproducible”). Each of the three award winners will receive $1K travel reimbursement for attending the MLCAD Symposium.

Important Dates

  • Artifact Submission Deadline: August 1, 2025
  • Initial Quattro Queries to Authors (if any): August 8, 2025
  • Artifact Evaluation Notifications: August 13, 2025
  • Camera-Ready Deadline (with AE badges): August 14, 2025

Submission Instructions

  1. Platform: MLCAD 2025 will use Code Ocean for artifact hosting and evaluation. Authors must create an account at codeocean.com/signup/ieee. User help information of codeocean can be found at https://help.codeocean.com/en/.
  2. Reproducible Setup: Your Code Ocean capsule must include a script named
    MLCAD2025_<paperID>_run
This should be configured as the main executable file for the “Reproducible Run” button within Code Ocean.
  3. Access: When submitting your artifact, add both AE chairs as viewers of your Code Ocean capsule:
    • Cunxi Yu (University of Maryland) cunxiyu@umd.edu
    • Igor Markov (Synopsys) Igor.Markov@synopsys.com
  4. Submission Form: Complete your artifact submission via this official Google Form, which will be sent to all accepted authors and available on the MLCAD website.
  5. Appendix: Include an Artifact Appendix (1-page) in your camera-ready paper following the template provided on the GitHub AE page. This appendix will describe the contents, structure, and usage instructions for your artifact. This appendix will only be added if your artifact evaluation is awarded with “Code Reproducible”.
